Hi-Lo Count

Also called the High-Low count and plus-minus count.

Hi-Lo Count is one of the most basic and easiest card counting systems. It is based on a one level running count where 2-6 count as +1 and faces and aces count as -1.

Hi-Lo is a balanced counting system, meaning that when all of the cards in a deck are properly counted the final result is 0.

While the Hi-Lo count is an excellent system new counters, in general the system is best used for light or recreational blackjack playing.

2, 3, 4 , 5, 6	Count +1
7, 8, 9	Count 0
10, J, Q, K, A	Count -1

Cards are counted as 1, 0 or -1.

• 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 cards have a value of 1
• 7, 8, and 9 have a value of 0
• 10, J, K, Q cards all have a value of -1
