California Ex-Cop Pleads Guilty To Cheating Casino and DUI

California casino security cameras recorded an off duty police officer capping his bets forcing the officer to resign and to plead guilty.
The Chula Vista police officer who was nabbed red handed at Sycuan Casino next to San Diego on June 2 for padding his bets playing blackjack card games during an all-night alcohol fueled bender has pled guilty to a misdemeanor capping charge and was sentenced to three years of probation.
Jesus Angel Salazar, 30, resigned from the police force in June. Jesus Angel also pled guilty to a misdemeanor DUI for getting caught outside the same casino with a .15% blood alcohol level in the middle of the night after crashing into a road sign.
After his guilty plea the Sycuan Gaming Commission decided to release the surveillance tapes of the night in question which clearly shows all four hands of blackjack cards where capping was involved.
On the tape the officer is seen looking at his cards and then waiting for the dealer to pass the cards to players the furthest away from Jesus. As soon as the former officer believed that the dealer was no longer looking at his direction, he quickly added a $25 casino chip to his bet.
“In each of the hands, he looks at his hand, likes his and caps his bet. He tries to add more chips to his original hand,” said the casino’s security chief, Mr. Van Slyke.
But in the fourth hand, Jesus gets spotted by capping his bet by the dealer. Jesus said that all he was trying to do was add to the bet to split the cards. However at that moment it was already too late since the ‘eye in the sky’ already noticed the prior capped bets.
“As he’s adding a $25 bet, as the dealer is looking at his hand and the dealer pushes back the bet,” Mr. Van Slyke added.
However, security had already been notified and began screening the video. At that moment the offer was arrested after the police repeatedly watched the security tape. Jesus was asked to stay away from the casino for at least three years.
