Vietnamese-Americans Rake in Millions at Online Poker Tournaments
Jul 5, 2012
Both are in their twenties. Both have parents from Vietnam. Both are brothers. Both make millions playing online poker.
When it comes to card counting, Dang brothers know what they do. And they have chosen a specialty, playing online poker, and this is how they make a living.
Indeed, these two young guys make quite a good living at it. By being able to win 55%-60% of the time, and by placing large poker bets, the brothers have won $15 million dollars since the time they started playing back in 2004 as engineering students. Mathematical knowledge both pursued since young age, is paying off in handsome ways.
The young poker players started small with a tiny deposit of a couple hundred of dollars, which they quickly lost. After learning their lessons quickly, a fortune was made.
Nowadays, the brothers claim, it is becoming tougher to make money online playing poker as there is less ”fish” in the ocean. In the poker community, the inexperienced players are called the ”fish.”
Basically, the fish players make it easy to make money off of them. But, the trend now is that there is less and less fish as online or mobile poker is less of a novelty.
Another thing which has profoundly affected brothers’ ability to make money off online poker is delegalization of it in the United States and the closure of top poker sites in America. To continue, the brothers relocated to Vancouver, Canada.
Moreover, Dang brothers frequently visit Macau and Las Vegas. Now, both are considering retirement. But, will they do it given the impending legalization of online gambling in the US as well as the temptation of making more money playing poker?
