Fixed Blackjack Decks Reduce Atlantic City Betting Odds

Jun 3, 2010

Two major Atlantic City casinos were fined this week after it was discovered that their blackjack games were running on 51-card decks. Bally’s Atlantic City was fined $18,000 by the New Jersey Casino Control Commission, and Showboat Casino Hotel had to cough up $10,000.

Both casinos are calling the situations accidents. At Bally’s, the dealer ignored a warning light on the auto shuffler that indicated the deck was short, dealing out of a 51 card deck for a full nine hours. At the Showboat, the 3 of Hearts got stuck in the shuffler, and nobody noticed for about four hours.

The Casino Control Commission is not accepting any excuses, noting that it is the responsibility of the dealer to make sure the deck is full. They are, however, willing to accept that the incidents were errors, and that the dealers did not intentionally short the decks.

While these errors are due in part to the technology used by land-based casinos, different technology on the internet makes errors like this impossible. Whether players are enjoying online blackjack games or fixed odds betting on the internet, everything is controlled by computers, which are virtually immune to these kinds of errors. Use this blackjack online casino reviews to find recommended sites that offer online blackjack games and blackjack tournaments, and rest assured that you are being dealt out of a full deck.
