Exotic Dancers to Blame for Lower Blackjack Payouts in Vegas

A younger crowd of blackjack players has been moving into Las Vegas casinos in recent years. In order to appeal to this new wave of gamblers, some Vegas casinos have installed so-called “party pits” near their blackjack tables. These party pits are the home of exotic dancers, who do their thing to entertain (or maybe distract?) players as they enjoy their favorite blackjack card games.

Unfortunately for the casinos, hiring these dancers doesn’t come cheap, especially since players are usually too distracted playing blackjack to tip the girls. In order to compensate for the costs of these exotic dancer party pits, casinos have decided to reduce the payouts at nearby blackjack tables by 20%, offering a mere 6:5 payout for blackjack instead of the usual 3:2.

Players don’t seem to notice. In fact, figures at the Hard Rock Casino show players are losing 85% more money at the blackjack tables ever since they installed a 25-foot stage with three poles for the dancers. Apparently it’s difficult to remember black jack card counting strategy when there is a half-naked woman nearby.

Las Vegas casinos might be able to get away with 6:5 blackjack tables, but at online blackjack casinos, the standard payout is still a very reasonable 3:2.
