ASUS Padfone 2
The Padfone 2 from ASUS is expected to boost mobile casino gambling. The device is unveiled ahead of official launch.
ASUS has already showcased the much anticipated Padfone 2 smartphone/tablet combo, despite the official premier scheduled to take place later today. The unique concept of the new Android casino tamer will certainly attract lots of attention from both gamers and technophiles.
The concept is simple: the smartphone can be used on its own, but once docked into a station it becomes a fully functional 10.1 inch tablet. Naturally, mobile casino gambling is possible in any of the two formats.
The ASUS Padfone 2 boasts a 4.7 inch Super IPS+ screen with 720p resolution, a Qualcomm APQ8064 quad-core CPU, 2GB of RAM, 13MP snapper with f/2.4 BSI sensor and 1080p video capabilities. Mobile casino games enthusiasts can also enjoy the NFC connectivity and a non-removable 2,140mAh battery. The whole thing is running on the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with a Jelly Bean update promised to reach the device soon.
Once the smartphone is inserted into the dock station, the two create a 10.1 inch tablet with IPS HD screen. The tablet configuration provides an awesome 5,000mAh battery. The power source has gone down from 6,600mAh in the Padfone 1, but this is compensated by the reduced weight: 649g compared to 854g in the previous model.
The device is scheduled to hit the shelves in Taiwan already next week. The pricing policy for the Padfone 2 is: $616 for the 16GB version, $750 for the 64GB one, but that is just the smartphone. The tablet combo will set back mobile gamers another $205. Details on the international launch are to be announced later.
