Swansea Citizen Wins GPB 25,000 in People’s Postcode Lottery
Jan 18, 2014
Marcel Jones from Winch Wen, Swansea, won GPB 25,000 from People’s Postcode Lottery.
This great gambling news came very unexpectedly for Jones. The rugby pro Scott Quinnell surprised him with a home visit and handed the GPB 25,000 cheque.
Jones commented thrilled: “It’s really made my day. As a pensioner, you always worry about what will happen in the future so, for me, this is security.” He added: “I love Scott to bits. With this cheque, I could probably buy the Welsh rugby team.”
The Jones family has different ideas how to spend the award
Marcel and his wife Ann already think of different smart strategies on how to spend the winnings, but the priority will be to spoil their four children and six grandchildren.
Jones said: “We’ll probably treat the kids to something and then we may go on holiday. I used to be in the Merchant Navy so I’ve travelled the world already, so maybe we’ll go somewhere like North Wales.”
The Welsh rugby legend Scott Quinnell was also excited about delivering the award: “It was great being in Swansea presenting Marcel with his cheque. The prizes are bigger for 2014 and these two are proof that there has never been a better time to play.”
