Cubeia to Accept Bitcoin
Jan 24, 2014
The Swedish software development company Cubeia has announced that it will accept Bitcoin for business-to-business transactions on its poker network.
The bold move as it attempts to foray into new gaming markets. The company offers online and mobile casino games.
Cubeia is just one of a number of firms who are not accepting Bitcoin, reflecting the controversial new online currency’s growing relevance. When ask about the new payment method, Cubeia CEO Frederik Johansson responded: “Cubeia has followed the evolution of Bitcoin closely the last couple of years and we’re convinced it is here to stay.”
Bitcoin usage expands in variety of markets
The influential social media game developer Zynga recently boosted Bitcoin’s profile significantly when it announced it would accept the currency. Zynga provides a variety of interactive not-for-money games as well as online poker and online blackjack.
Even some businesses outside of the online sphere are experimenting with the currency. The Sacramento Kings, an American pro basketball team, recently announced it would become the first major sports team in the world to accept Bitcoin. Fans will be able to use the virtual currency to purchase official team merchandise as well as tickets.
Despite the misgivings of many people, Bitcoin is clearly on the up-and-up.
