Floyd Mayweather has denied betting over $10 million on the Super Bowl LXVIII, a story reported widely last week.

It seems to be that the stories in various newspapers and casino gambling news about Floyd Mayweather Jr. betting over $10 million on Denver Broncos, were just rumors. As we now know, Broncos have lost to Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl LXVIII held last night.

The undefeated boxing champ has denied rumors of his notorious bet even before the Sunday game was over. Here’s what he posted on his Instagram: “For the record, I did not bet $10 million on the Broncos. As a matter of fact, I didn’t bet all. I can’t control what rumors that are put out there. Good or bad publicity keeps me relevant. The only thing I would bet $10 million on is myself.” He also went on to add: “From the looks of my record, I’m a guaranteed win!!!”

Super Bowl LXVIII result

Right before the game on Sunday, Denver Broncos were the favorites to take Seattle Seahawks for a ride. Broncos have the best offense in the league, including Peyton Manning, chosen as this season’s MVP. However, Seahawks boast the best defense in the league, and it seems that was the recipe for success on Super Sunday.

Seattle Seahawks crushed Denver Broncos by a whopping 43-8 to take the Super Bowl LXVIII title. When the rumors about Mayweather betting on the event were spread, they didn’t mention if he had bet at land-based or mobile sportsbooks, but now, it doesn’t really matter, does it?

Mayweather went on to post on his Twitter account that he absolutely had no intention of betting on the crowd’s favorites, Broncos. He tweeted: “Somebody lied to you all. If I was going to bet, I would have bet on the Seattle Seahawks.”

Make of it what you will, but Mayweather is renowned for placing amazing bets on sporting events. He usually goes as far as posting pictures of receipts on his social media accounts to prove that he has actually won. Maybe this Super Bowl didn’t go his way, and that’s why he’s denying everything now, we will never know.
