According to app analytics platform Distimo, social casinos are becoming more and more profitable.
Social mobile casino games are among the top-grossing sectors of the gaming industry, a recent report says. The analytics company used information from its Distimo AppIQ to compare the revenues made by different software development firms selling their products via the iOS App Store and Google Play.
It turns out that social casino games are among the most profitable apps, and the industry is on the rise. While iPhone and Android mobile gambling are becoming increasingly popular, social games are making their way to the top 100 best-selling apps worldwide.
Social games sell better on iPhone
The report also found that this type of game is more popular among iPhone and iPad users than Android users. Big Fish Games made 84% of its total profits through sales via the App Store, while Williams Interactive and Buffalo Studios both draw 57% or their total revenues from here.
Playtika is one of the social gaming companies which caught the attention of major casino developers. The firm was bought by Caesars Interactive Entertainment, a subsidiary of Caesars Entertainment Corporation.
Caesars expanded its digital department by purchasing Buffalo Studios, Pacific Interactive, as well as the rights to the World Series of Poker mobile app created by Electronic Arts.
