December’s celebrity blackjack stories include two actors and a legendary athlete, whos gambling habits are well-known by the public.
Betting on Selena Gomez’s bets
Coming to theaters on February 4, The Big Short Story is a biographical comedy directed by Adam McKay, based on Michael Lewis’ book of the same name. The story is set in the middle of the 2000’s, marking the financial crisis. The Big Short Story stars Christian Bale, Ryan Gosling and Brad Pitt among other big names. In a scene, Selena Gomez appears at a blackjack table with the founder of behavioral economics, Richard Thaler. Thaler orchestrates a group of people who bet on other’s bet in order to explain the forces that lead to the financial crisis.
Mark Wahlberg’s celebrity blackjack story
Mark Whalberg plays a bad boy dad in Daddy’s Home, a movie that also pays tribute to his famous Boogie Nights character Dirk Diggler. Wahlberg shared some stories about the efforts he puts into his roles. When talking about The Gambler, the 44-year-old actor has revealed some of his gambling stories. “I certainly did as much gambling as I could while preparing for the role and during the making of the movie,” started Wahlberg his celebrity blackjack story. “I was playing pretty high-stakes blackjack [and] i won a lot of money,” he added.
Michael Jordan spotted playing blackjack
While vacationing in the Bahamas, Michael Jordan was spotted at the blackjack table with Derek Jeter, Hannah Davis and Luke Donald. Jordan’s gambling stories are well-known. In 1992, during the Olympics, he spent most of his nights playing poker. Even on their way home, he was betting his teammates that his bags will come out first.
