This New Year’s will see a massive celebration featuring blackjack, slots, Coldplay and Jay-Z at the Cosmopolitan, the newest casino on the Vegas Strip.
The Nevada Gaming Commission has given a green light for the newest casino in Las Vegas to open its doors and welcome players. After a tough hour of questions, the Commission granted Deutsche Bank AG a gaming license for the newest blackjack casino on the Strip – the Cosmopolitan.
The $3.9 billion Cosmopolitan has been trying to get its feet on the ground for years. Construction began many years ago, but before it could be completed the recession hit and the developers were forced into foreclosure. The property was picked up again by the German lender in 2008 for $1 billion. The bank will oversee the casino operations by placing some of its executives on the board.
The new casino features a 3,000 room resort hotel on 8 acres of land. The 100,000 square foot casino will offer 83 table games including poker and blackjack card games and 1500 slot machines.
The Cosmopolitan USA blackjack casino is set to open a few weeks before the end of 2010, and has signed Jay-Z and Coldplay to perform during a huge New Year’s bash to celebrate the opening. The casino will be functional right away, but the hotel won’t be fully complete until July 2011.
