Rules
First and foremost, when playing Match 21 Blackjack, you’ll need to keep in mind that the dealer is forced to always hit on soft 17. However, he will also stand on a hard 17.
You’re always allowed to split into any pairs for an additional bet equal to your initial bet. And, if you please, you can continue to hit on each hand, whatever the card. Re-splitting is even an option, once, meaning you can have up to 3 hands.
Doubling down is also an option, even after a split. You’re allowed to also use some other perks, such as insurance betting and surrendering. The former comes at the cost of half your initial bet whilst the latter is in case you lose half of your entire bet and the hand is forfeited.
How Much you Stand to Make
RTG’s Match Play 21 Blackjack allows players to bet anything between €/£/$ 1 and €/£/$ 250. All bets can be adjusted using four different chip sizes. Those are 1, 5, 25, and 100. This is perfect as you can bet exactly how much you want!
The payouts in this one are quite standard as well. Blackjack will reward you with a 3/2 pay-out, insurance warrants you with 2/1 whilst standard wins are rated at evens (1/1). But here’s where it gets interesting.
There are other payouts in the game, notably, they are based on the cards in your hand:
- 21 with 5 cards pays 3:2
- Any 6-7-8 pays 3:2
- Any 7-7-7 pays 3:2
- 21 with 6 cards pays 2:1
- Suited 6-7-8 pays 2:1

- 21 with 7 or more cards pays 3:1
- 6-7-8 spades pay 3:1
- 7-7-7 spades pay 3:1
- Suited 7-7-7 when the dealer’s upcard is 7 pays 40:1

Like other casino games from RTG, Match Play 21 is a top-shelf game. The interface is very simple and intuitive, and there is no learning curve for the game so the moment you open it up, you can start playing. Everything you need is right at your fingertips, arranged just right to give you the best possible view of the action. Better than that, the graphics are brilliant!
The top-down perspective gives you a great view of the table, and everything, from the chips to the plus green table, looks very realistic. This game makes for an outstanding blackjack experience! (edit)
Tips and Tricks
When playing this game, it’s really important to remember that there are no 10s. As such, you’ve got a slimmer chance of getting a blackjack with Match Play 21 than the other different types of blackjack games.
This is balanced, however, by the 10 additional payouts. As a result, you can basically play this game as you would any standard 6 deck blackjack game, because even though the odds changes slightly with the 10s missing, the other bets hit often enough to make up for it!
Overall
Although Match Play 21 Blackjack may be difficult to grasp at first, it is a very profitable and enjoyable game once you get the hang of it. Whilst we recommend playing the free demo version for about an hour before placing any real solid cash, you can go at your own pace.
