Attention US Online Gamblers! Gambling Ban to Be Contested in Court This July!
If you live in the United States and you like to gamble online, then mark your calendars for July 6th. It’s the official date of the start of a court hearing in which the Interactive Media Entertainment and Gaming Association (iMEGA) will be appealing the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) in the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.
What does this mean? Basically, the iMEGA represents all the millions of US players who feel their rights have been trampled by the current online gambling ban in the country – the law that tries to stop online gambling is called the UIGEA. iMEGA is going to court to argue that the UIGEA is unconstitutional.
While nothing big is likely to happen right away on July 6th, it does mark a big day in the battle to reinstate online gambling in the United States. While the UIGEA makes it more difficult for US players to gamble online, it has certainly not stopped internet gambling in the US.
