Tegra 4i from NVIDIA officially unveiled
NVIDIA Tegra 4i

NVIDIA decided not to wait for the MWC and went on to officially announce the brand new Tegra 4i chipset.

The Tegra 4i from NVIDIA is a brand new chipset already officially announced by the manufacturer. Despite the name bearing a close resemblance to the recently launched Tegra 4, the new chipset is a thoroughly updated version of the Tegra 3, launched last year. The main difference appreciated by mobile casino fans is the inclusion of the 4G LTE radio – a first for NVIDIA.

Just like the Tegra 3, the NVIDIA Tegra 4i delivers four Cortex-A9 CPUs plus a fifth power-saving core. The 60-core GPU included in the new SoC brings mobile casino games performance much closer to the 72-core architecture found on the Tegra 4. The inclusion of the 4G LTE is expected to assist NVIDIA in delivering all-in-one SoC solutions, and rival Qualcomm, which has been producing similar chipsets for quite some time now.

The main difference of the NVIDIA Tegra 4i chipset and its advantage over the quad-core Qualcomm SoC is its size: almost half of the Qualcomm’s. This will substantially benefit the battery’s life subsequently allowing much longer Android blackjack sessions on smartphones.

The new chipset also includes the much-anticipated camera features improvements: “always on HDR” mode and full panoramic HDR photo taking capabilities. The new NVIDIA Tegra 4i SoC is expected to hit the markets by the end of 2013, and finds its way to various smartphones already in the beginning of 2014.
