The Samsung pre-IFA event saw not only Galaxy Note II confirmation, but the announcement of the first WP8 phone – ATIV S.

The Samsung ATIV S has been officially unveiled during the pre-IFA press conference. The device becomes the first smartphone with the Windows Phone 8 OS inside to be officially announced.

The new device brings with it quite an impressive set of mobile casino capabilities. It will feature a 4.8 inch SuperAMOLED screen with HD resolution and Gorilla Glass 2 protection. The 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Krait CPU and 1GB of RAM take care of the power, while the 8MP back snapper and 1.9MP camera on the front panel provide great imaging capabilities.

The Samsung ATIV S delivers a pretty slim body of only 8.7 mm to Windows mobile casino fans, its weight is said to be 135 grams, despite a rather spacious 2,300mAh battery.

Further specs will treat regulars of Windows mobile gambling to Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n connectivity, on top of Bluetooth 3 and NFC. 16GB or 32GB of built-in memory can be extended via a microSD card slot, providing enough space for mobile casino games.

The designated markets and the pricing policy for the new device are yet to be unveiled, but it’s safe to suppose that the Samsung ATIV S will be available short after the Windows Phone 8 OS itself is released by Microsoft.

Samsung has also unveiled a trio of Windows 8 running tablets at the event. These include two 11.6 inch ATIV Smart PC and Smart PC Pro, as well as 10.1 inch ATIV Tab.
