According to Portsmouth Police a peaceful home blackjack card game turned into a gun battle, leaving both victims and suspects injured.

Terrified neighbors called police after hearing gunshots from an apartment above. Michelle Andrews, one the neighbors recounts that she felt like in a gangster movie, hiding kids in the bedroom and calling the police. As she was reading about latest blackjack tricks she was interrupted by violent shooting.

After answering a knock on the door, one of the female victims was pushed inside by attackers forcing their way in. Once inside the robbers began taking jewelry, personal belongings and making demands for money. One of the police officers commented that the victims were also armed, so a violent shootout broke out. Suspects allegedly fled the scene after injuring two victims in a blatant shootout.

One of the victims couldn’t remember if they injured the attackers or not, but police apprehended one of the suspects in a hospital close to the crime scene. Sources close to the investigation state that three people were shot, two victims and one robber, who busted into the apartment first. One of the victims sustained a peculiar injury to her buttocks.

Jason Lamont Trusty, Jr., 18, of Knox Street, was named as one of the suspects. The second attacker was identified as William Daniel Battle, 19, and was also charged with underage drunk driving. Both suspects were charged with armed burglary, assault and robbery, in addition to Trusty charges of multiple firearm use.
