New Apple v Samsung trial
Apple v Samsung

The $1.05 damages awarded to Apple from Samsung patent infringements are to be reevaluated in a new trial.

The Samsung v Apple patent wars seem to never end: last year Samsung was ordered to pay over $1 billion to Apple in damages, after a ruling by Judge Lucy Koh. The results of that monster trial are to be reevaluated in a new trial with a completely different jury.

This means that the actual amount of damages Samsung needs to pay to iPhone casino tools producer could be either larger or smaller. The reevaluation ordered will only concern with a $450.5 million part of the initial damages, which refers to the “questionable” smartphones.

The new trial will circle around 14 devices from the Korean giant, whose damages in the initial trial were found to be “questionable”. The most prominent mobile casino games tamers to be reevaluated include the AT&T Galaxy S II, Samsung Nexus S 4G, Infuse 4G, and the Galaxy Tab.

The dates of the new trial are not set yet, and can only be decided when all the appeals against the initial trial verdict are through. At this rate the end to the Apple v Samsung wars certainly cannot be anywhere near.
