IGT and MGM released the popular Cleopatra traditional slot machine version for the iPhone mobile ‘M life Player Club’ of MGM Resorts Casino Player Club.

On January 21, International Game Technologies (NYSE: IGT) and MGM Resorts International (NYSE:MGM) announced the launch of IGT’s Cleopatra iPhone mobile slot game to become a part of the new ‘M life Player Club’ of MGM Resorts Casino. The agreement between the two traditional casino industry powerhouses shows the beginning of a future trend of the move toward the mobile casino platforms.

MGM is continuing to test the waters of the mobile casino market by offering IGT’s Cleopatra on a non-wager basis by introducing its guests and letting them become familiar with mobile gaming. In the future, this method will allow a smooth transition of the MGM traditional casino gambler to the MGM mobile casinos gambler.

As one mobile analyst described the non-wagering Cleopatra and ‘M life Player Club’ as a long term branding approach – “It’s a clever way to let players learn how to ride the MGM mobile casino bike by using training wheels. When the customer grows up and is ready for the real thing, its more likely that the player will continue to use the MGM mobile casino games bike.”

Alex Kelly, VP of IGT Interactive said “This partnership between IGT and MGM Resorts enables M life members to play Cleopatra via their iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. The game features the graphics and game play of the popular casino title and will increase brand loyalty to a game widely available throughout MGM Resorts’ properties.” IGT has more than eight years of mobile gaming experience in countries such as UK which do not prohibit their citizen from gambling at online and iPhone casinos.

Sherri Gilligan, Senior VP of M&A of MGM Stated, “We are always looking to offer our players their favorite slot apps while away from the casino floor. It’s a fun way for players to take a little bit of Las Vegas home.” ‘M life’ is a loyalty program will expand later this year into a full loyalty comp program to reward players spend on hotel stays, shopping, dining and more.
