More than 25% of Poker Wagers will be Mobile Come 2014 Say Party Poker

The success of mobile casinos has been substantial in recent times, but it’s poker where gambling bosses are predicting a big, big rise. Perhaps spurred on by the success of a series of freeplay poker apps – as shown off by Senator John McCain during that infamous Syria session of Senate – Poker companies are turning their attention to the mobile market.

So Party Poker have announced that they believe Android casino poker, iPhone poker apps and HTML5 poker websites are the way forward for the world of poker. As such, Jeffrey Haas, Party Poker’s head of poker operations, has predicted that more than a quarter of poker wagers will be made on a mobile device come 2014, and will continue to grow substantially afterwards.

Part of the reason for this is that players generally play shorter, more intense sessions on mobile devices, with Haas adding: “People typically play three times as many hands. Unfortunately, they also lose faster on their mobile because people have less focus.”

With iPad gambling gaining popularity in the home, too, and sites like Party Poker taking advantage of modern technology to offer a multi-platform experience, gamblers can play wherever they are in complete comfort. Whether mobile poker will actually overtake online is a different matter, but who knows: it may happen in the not so distant future.
