New Service Aimed to Keep Land Based Casinos on the Map as Mobile Takes Over

Party Poker has announced that its 3% withdrawal fee for eWallets is to remain permanently, in a move sure to upset players. The move comes after the fee was introduced, originally as a short term measure, to combat abuse of a promotion involving major eWallet provider Skrill.

The promotion allowed Party Poker players to claim cashback for using Skrill – formerly Moneybookers – to upload and withdraw funds from their Party Poker account.

Party Poker has just released their new look site, complete with new logo and a complete change of direction. Looking to gain traction with iPhone and Android casino poker players, there is a mobile site too, as well as a whole host of new social features designed to get gamblers sharing away.

With mobile casinos gaining traction in recent times, Party Poker’s parent company, bwin, thought it about time to do something about it. As such, the Party Poker website now includes Party Poker Casino and Party Poker Betting, as well as Backgammon and Bingo.

This piece of mobile gambling news probably wont do them any good, though, despite group Director of Poker, Jeffrey Haas, explaining the move: “Payment processors charge online gaming companies when players deposit funds in their accounts, and again when they withdraw them.

‘We have traditionally absorbed those transaction costs in our overhead, but changed our policy last month in respect to withdrawals by e-wallet methods only. We still pay the fee for players funding their accounts, but now ask that players pay the fee when they withdraw using those e-wallets.”
