Paul Wood lost his right testicle, but kept on playing in the rugby Super League.

31-year-old Warrington Super League rugby player Paul Wood caught a knee in his groin in the second half of the match against Leeds at Old Trafford in front of 70,000 spectators.

A football player would convulse on the ground for an hour just by reading the above, but Wood kept on playing with the heavy injury during the whole match.

The rugby professional even answered media questions after the game before going to the hospital for an operation. Amazingly, he did not even mention his injury during the interviews, and had no signs of pain or suffering, just like a poker face.

The father of two tweeted on Saturday night to his fellow rugby professional Leon Pryce: “Ruptured my right testicle mate, got a knee one minute into the second half, had to have it removed tonight.”

On Sunday, he went on joking: “Just coming out the hospital to go home… Seriously feel like I’ve left something???”

Wood is now more cautious, stating that “Lessons learned. Need to wear a box over balls.”

Warrington lost the match 26-18, allowing Leeds to retain their Super League title.

Super League, officially called Stobart Super League, is the top-level of European professional rugby. It features fourteen teams, thirteen from England, plus one from France. Especially in the UK, a massive amount of online betting is conducted for Super League games.

Every team is to play 27 matches between February and September, including a so-called Magic Weekend game at a neutral venue. The top eight teams of the season enter play-offs that come up to Grand Final between the two best teams.

The rugby Super League is notorious for its hard physical play.
