Android casinos and NEC smartphone
Android on Diet

The world’s thinnest smartphone, standing tall at 8.7mm was released Friday in Japan, which is great news for the future of the mobile casino industry, as many of the biggest electronics conglomerates re-focus development money on the mobile industry.

On Friday, the NEC Corporation launched its newest Android powered Medias N-04C smartphone with an incredibly small 7.7 mm thick shell, making it the thinnest Android powered smartphone in the world. The feature that stands out most, besides its size, is the revolutionary speed of its processor, which will open a whole new world of opportunities for interactive mobile casino games. Unfortunately, the likelihood that this amazing mobile device will become available outside of Japan is almost zero. Nevertheless it clearly shows the direction in which today’s smartphones are heading.

For comparison: Samsung Galaxy S II boasts an 8.5-mm thickness, Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc is dressed in a curved 8.7-mm case, and LG Optimus Black is marked by a 9.2-mm design. NEC’s Medias N04-C, running on Android 2.2 Froyo, with the original firmware, offers NFC-communications as well as a TV-Tuner 1Seg. The TV-Tuner will finally allow all football fans to quickly place bets on the game with your favorite Mobile sportsbooks while watching the live broadcast of the game easier than ever before.

Yesterday’s release of this ultra-thin device brought cheers from an enthusiastic crowd of Japanese techies who were visibly impressed by the lightning speed the phone offers when playing mobile arcade games. The smartphone is equipped with a four-inch touch screen, 854×480 pixel resolution, an 800 MHz processor and support for contactless technology NFC, a 5.1-megapixel webcam and Gorilla glass which is impossible to scratch. The smartphone weighs only 105 grams, and has a 250 minute battery life when speaking and 360 hours on standby.

For those of you interested in trivia, last December, the world’s biggest smartphone was unveiled: the Android powered Nexus S, with an incredible 42 inch touch screen. The mobile was fully functional even though it was used as a promotional tool for the grand opening of the newest Best Buy electronics store.
