Leroys on Smartphone

Slowly but surely, the big land-based casino interests in Las Vegas are coming around to appreciate the online gambling and mobile gambling industries as a great way to make money while spreading the brand.

The latest to join the online revolution is Leroy’s Race and Sports Books, which on September 1 launched an application for BlackBerry users for use on smartphones. After receiving approval from Nevada gaming regulatory authorities, this top name in Las Vegas-based sportsbooks released the product to the public.

Developed by American Wagering subsidiary Computerized Bookmaking Systems and BlackBerry itself, the application allows punters access to all of Leroy’s active lines, including straight wagers, parlays and teasers. In-game live betting will be offered on some NFL games.

Next for the application will be launches for use on iPhone-, Google Android– and Windows-based mobile phones before April 2011.

At the product launch, American Wagering CEO Vic Salerno enthused that “We really believe this application will change how people bet on sports.” In actuality, applications like Leroy’s already have changed sports wagering – now it’s all about how the new sports betting changes traditional Las Vegas operations.

Due to a GPS within the Leroy’s mobile sportsbook application, it may only be used within the borders of the state of Nevada. But no problem: Use your smartphone to play at dozens of mobile casinos or internet sportsbooks today!
