Mobile the Way Forward for Unibet as Profits Grow

Online and mobile sportsbook and casino company Unibet have posted a huge rise in gross revenue after their mobile offerings took off. Total winnings for the last quarter reached GBP 56.1 million, up 28% from a year ago, as mobile grew by an incredible amount.

Indeed, their mobile casinos and sportsbook accounted for 23% of this revenue, up from just 8% of the revenue a year ago. With profits also rising, this is a good time for the company, as their growth continues in a market that just seems to be taking off.

Indeed, mobile gambling has grown incredibly in the UK during the past year, as the industry starts to really take advantage of the proliferation of smartphones in the country. Combined with improvements in technology – including HTML5 that has allowed sites to be cross compatible – and mobile gambling, and especially iPhone gambling, has become more accessible.

Unibet is just the latest company to have success porting from online sportsbooks to mobile casinos, as they follow in the footsteps of other UK firms Paddy Power, William Hill, Ladbrokes, and Bet365. Together, those four have taken the greatest share of the mobile market, but smaller, modern casinos are popping up with regularity to challenge the traditional players.
