In the first week of legal table gaming in land-based casinos in Pennsylvania, almost all was good with the exception of one casino whose customers wished for more smaller-stakes blackjack table. Most people enjoyed the new roulette, Caribbean Stud poker, and popular blackjack game variations at six Pennsylvania casinos.

Of course, not everyone can be counted on to follow the unwritten rules of polite society and so the Meadows Casino in North Strabane had to report a bit of an ugly situation at one of its new blackjack tables.

According to local news, security officers were going around the casino, asking customers to finish their drinks in deference to the mandatory 2 a.m. limit on serving alcohol in the state. One Donald Lee Beck Jr. allegedly refused to comply with the security officer’s request twice. On the second occasion, Beck became incensed at the security officer when his beer bottle was taken away.

Police then intervened after Beck allegedly refused to leave the premises. Beck first threatened a Pennsylvania state trooper and then would not allow handcuffs to be put on, according to reports. After a little more resistance, police then tasered Beck and handcuffed him.

Beck went before Washington County district judge Jay Weller on Tuesday.
