Nigel-GoldmanNigel Goldman

Nigel Goldman, famous British poker ace and playboy, disappeared from his mansion in Costa del Sol, carrying away around EUR 3 million.

Spanish police is chasing after him as the money he took weren’t his own, and he already has a notorious reputation for being imprisoned for fraud twice. This casino gambling news became known as numerous lawyers are launching appeals against him to reclaim close to EUR 3 million.

Goldman, who made his fortune playing poker at some of the most famous tournaments, also published a book in 2012 called “High Stakes: How I Blew GBP 14 million.” One review of the book says: “Goldman seems to show little remorse – and more than a little contempt – for the victims whose money he lived off so handsomely.”

If he had stuck to his successful card counting system, instead of implementing fraud schemes, he probably would have still been able to enjoy his Ferrari and impressive champagne collection in his house in Spain.

Goldman insists he is not to be blamed

Despite his reputation, Goldman always insisted that the scheme was run by other brokers, who tricked him into it. He even texted a friend: “Things started to go wrong just over a year ago. It seems some of my brokers turned out to be running a ponzi scheme with everyone’s money. Since then I have been playing catch-up.”

It is interesting that the police is looking for him in Spain, while Nigel’s poker friend claimed that he called him from Morocco. He added: “He’s in Morocco. Unbeknown to me, he was on his toes. I have known him for years. We have sat opposite each other at many a poker table. He didn’t have much to say, which is unlike him.”
