Ten developers have already signed up to deliver games to Facebook users on the go.

As smartphones and tablets take the place of PCs in the lives of millions of players, game developers adjust to the market realities accordingly. For those that are successful in reaching a captive audience, the rewards are huge.

Considering the trends it is hardly surprising that online casinos are also scrambling to buy or develop mobile casino software to reach new players or old players with new offers.

Those sites that fail to make their games available to mobile users face an unavoidable loss of revenue and competitiveness. This makes it all the more surprising that the biggest social network of all, with hundreds of millions of users playing games every day, has not made any mobile arcade games or social game titles accessible to players.

We are talking about Facebook of course, and its frustrated users who would like on-the-go access to the games hosted on the site.

That wish may soon become a reality, after the company announced on Tuesday the start of a new platform for mobile games developers to publish their titles. The launch of this pilot project is meant to help “small and medium-sized developers take their games global,” reaching Facebook’s large pool of registered users rather easily.

The current list of partners who will release titles on the new platform consist of ten larger and smaller firms, such as 5th Planet, Brainbow, Certain Affinity, Dragonplay, Gameloft, Gamevil, KiwiGames, Outplay Entertainment, Space Ape and WeMade Entertainment. The list is expected to grow as further developers sign up.

The announced technology favors new developments over the conversion of existing Facebook game titles, so players can expect to have totally new social games, slots, sports games and even new mobile blackjack tables at their fingertips, well before they get the chance to play Farmville from their portable devices (if ever).
