An employee of the lottery agency testified that the winner could not clearly explain where he got the ticket.

A $3.6 million lottery jackpot is being disputed in the Court of British Columbia. Former councilor Franz Prokop, who is confined to a wheelchair after being shot in the head last year, claims he is the real owner of the winning lottery ticket that brought Peter Dushop the grand prize.

According to recent casino gambling news, the plaintiff did not appear in front of the court, but his lawyers told the judge that Prokop had in fact bought the ticket while shopping with his common-law partner, Angelina Dushop, mother of the young man who claimed the jackpot.

Suspicious lottery prize

Prokop’s legal representatives said that the man paid for the ticket six years ago. They accused Angelina Dushop of having stolen it after realizing it was a winner and, according to the plaintiff, her son showed up and claimed the jackpot one year later.

A manager of the lottery operator testified that she was suspicious at first, because Peter Dushop couldn’t clearly explain where he had bought the ticket. Ultimately, the company deemed that the young man did buy the ticket, so Dushop eventually received the money. However, none of these claims have been proven in court.

The popular game which brought Dushop the grand prize is run by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation. The state-owned operator also offers legal mobile casino gambling.
