Mel Gibson is back in Australia, where he’s shooting a new movie, and in his spare time he took a seat at Star Casino’s blackjack table.

While working on his World War II drama, Hacksaw Ridge, Mel Gibson has took some time to play at one of Star Casino’s blackjack tables. His fellow card players reported that the actor was cheerful and friendly, despite losing $200. Gibson stayed only for half an hour but it was more than enough time to get noticed by the casino’s other guests.

Mel Gibson’s return to Australia

For the duration of the filming of Hacksaw Ridge, Gibson is living in New South Wales. However, he’s not new to Australia as he moved from New York to Sidney during his childhood. “I’m so glad to be here [Australia] again, working here again, bumping into people I’ve known for years, decades, again… and moving forward – it’s been great,” stated the actor on his return.

The movie, directed by Mel Gibson, is set for release in 2016. The cast include Teresa Palmer, Like Braces, Andrew Garfield and Milo Gibson. It’s about a World War II American Army Medic, who “refuses to kill people and becomes the first Conscientious Objector in American history to be awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor.
