In Pennsylvania, the numbers about blackjack and table gaming income are in for August and once again most outlets showed a nice take.

The Mohegan Sun showed quite an upswing with greater profit earned with installation of more blackjack tables. The Mohegan Sun earned over $3.5 million in gross revenue on table games alone in August: This represents a whopping 280% increase month-on-month, when the casino finished dead last in table gaming revenue among Pennsylvania’s nine casinos in earning $1.2 million.

The secret was simple for the casino at Pocono Downs racetrack: Just add more tables! The Mohegan Sun went from zero blackjack card games or other table gaming to 62 tables for poker, craps, blackjack and others on July 13. But the installation of 20 more tables on August 19 was the real kicker, giving the Sun the largest range of casino table games in the state.

Interestingly, the most successful casino in terms of revenue was the oft-troubled Parx Casino in Bensalem, which earned over $6.3 million with just 57 games.

In August, table gaming in all Pennsylvania casinos combined generated $34.555 million in gross revenue, with $4.837 million in tax revenue for the state and $691,104 in tax revenue for local governments – all figures just about doubled month-on-month from July.
