A study conducted by a marketing company reveals detailed information about mobile in-game purchases.

A recent report issued by marketing specialist Swrve brings some good news for the mobile casino industry. The study found that it takes only 0.15% of mobile gamers to generate 50% of monthly profits made from in-game purchases.

The data compiled in the company’s first Mobile Games Monetization Report is certainly interesting, as it shows that all the money comes from a very small category of “high spenders”. The top 10% of these players generate as much as half of the amount.

It took Swrve one month to complete the survey and during that time only 1.5% of all active players have actually made an in-game purchase.

Study points to “where the money is made”

According to the statistics revealed in recent mobile gambling news, 49% of players only make one purchase per month and about 13% of them make five or more in-game purchases. About half of those who actually buy something end up making another purchase within the next two weeks.

Swrve CEO Hugh Reynolds said the study was conducted on tens of millions of players and shows precisely “where the money is made”. “What’s interesting is that while many consider the freemium model to be successful, there is still surprisingly little data relating to exactly how consumers interact with freemium games,” he added.
