Match-fixing in Italian football
Italian football

Italians love football. Their league as well as a national team are a source of great pride and entertainment for the fans.

The sad new is that some Serie A and B matches have been fixed, not for the first time, as betting gangsters wanted to make some real gambling money while exposing legitimate and sport-loving punters, including those playing Mobile sportsbooks, to losing disappointments.

In addition, some of the matches were fixed to assist the teams in moving to the higher division.

Italian football betting corruption costs legitimate punters money

According to casino gambling news, well over a dozen people were arrested recently across Italy for gambling crimes, including a football team captain, Cristiano D.

Most of the game-fixing took place in the lower league, Serie B. Unfortunately, others affected the prestigious Serie A which sees some of the greatest football brands play.

In addition to ongoing legal prosecution, teams were fined with lost league points and players banned for as long as 3-4 years.

Truth is, while the latest Mobile sports betting applications offer new ways to bet and analyze odds, such as which team is favored by the bookmakers, no software yet can expose fraudulent game fixing.

Only cracking down on the players, done with most effect when banning them from the sport, can clear the industry from game-fixers and athletes without honor, thus allowing football punters to enjoy the game and win some real sports betting money.

Football, nevertheless, will continue to be a crooked game as players, referees, and others take cash for game-fixing. The constant match-fixing incidents prove that. Not long ago, Polish football fans had the opportunity to learn how corrupted the players and football officials were.

Hopefully, Euro 2012, which takes place this summer in Poland and Ukraine, will not see much corruption as it is hard to believe that all the corruption can be eliminated. But, let’s see.
