Blackjack fight

A New Jersey man is in serious condition after fighting another for a seat at a Delaware Park Casino blackjack table on Thursday, December 30.

The unnamed victim of bad casino etiquette is a 48-year-old resident of Sewell, New Jersey who is currently in dangerous condition. His opponent in the scuffle was Edwin Mitchell, a resident of Wilmington, Delaware.

While details are sparse, the brawl was somehow removed from the blackjack card game table, but it continued outside the casino. Mitchell punched the New Jersey resident in the face and then landed four additional four hits before his prey fell and stuck his head against the sidewalk.

The injured party was transported to a hospital. He is described as being in grave condition. The Delaware State Police have arrested Mitchell and currently hold him for assault.

Last year, the police were required to respond to another incident at the Delaware Park Casino when a New Jersey man busted at the blackjack table brought 26 charges upon himself in Delaware. Napped for cheating, Clifton Shaw faces 19 misdemeanors and 7 felony charges. In addition to capping and pinching his blackjack wagers, he possessed two fake driver’s licenses and $140 in counterfeit twenties.
