Gingrich loses ground
Nevada lost

Open marriage proposal and a donation from a rich casino mogul aren’t helping Newt Gingrich in his presidential bid. It is Mitt Romney who takes the pole position in the race.

Back in 1994, Newt Gingrich and his ”Contract with America” brought the man to the top of the political life, while giving Bill Clinton, then a president of the United States, a feel of a cornered mouse. Now, it is Gingrich who feels like a player who pursues losing black jack strategies, without knowing what’s wrong with his game. What happened to Newt?

The State of Nevada, a home of many card counting system masters, didn’t play well in Gingrich’s hands. It was Romney who won a primary there, leaving Gingrich behind. Even Rick Santorum, previously crossed out as an underdog candidate, is catching up with Gingrich.

Yet, defiant Gingrich stated, ”I am a candidate for president of the United States. I will be a candidate for the president of the United States. We will continue to campaign all the way to Tampa.”

Recent Romney’s success is partly attributed to negative TV ads against Gingrich.

Online odds for the next president of America

So far, the Republican Party primaries had taken place in five states: Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Florida, and Nevada. As the race unveils, Paddy Power, a Mobile sportsbooks and political betting outfit, constantly recalculates the odds for the Republican nominee and the next president.

Currently, Romney has the highest odds for nomination with 1/20. The next two candidates, Gingrich and Santorum, are far behind with odds of 16/1. Once high-flying Paul is far behind with odds of 25/1. Gingrich still has some decent odds of winning a primary at his home state of Georgia where he is favored 1/8 vs. Romney’s 9/2.

For the overall victory in November’s elections, it is Barack Obama who is the top gun at 4/7, while Mitt Romney is next at 5/4 odds. For those believing in scandal-prone Newt Gingrich, the odds are 40/1, amounting to a massive payout in the case of his ultimate victory.
