Who could have imagined that you could play a real game of blackjack within a video console game? Well, Rockstar Games offer just that in their immensely popular game called Red Dead Redemption 2. Essentially, you play a pioneer in the Wild West. Located on the map are four towns where you can play RDR2 blackjack with the locals. Unsurprisingly, these locations are normally to be found in the town’s saloons. The games are the same as the classic blackjack that’s found in regular casinos.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Blackjack Locations

Did you know that you can play blackjack within one of the world’s most popular video games? The game of Red Dead Redemption 2 offers the classic casino table game of blackjack. By going into certain saloons, you can sit down and play RDR2 blackjack with other characters.

If you have a taste for over-the-top and violent video games, then we’re sure you’ve heard of Rockstar Games. After all, they are the company behind the massive global video game Grand Theft Auto. In 2018, the company introduced us to Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2). The game became an instant hit with gamers, taking them back to 19th-century America. You find yourself in the Wild West of 1899, as seen through the eyes of a protagonist called Arthur Morgan. He’s a member of a group of outlaws called the Van der Linde Gang.

Finding RDR2 Blackjack

As a German player, you’ll find there are lots of German immigrant characters. Many don’t speak any English and so communicate in their native German tongue. When playing the game there are a huge number of options available that you can take part in. These mainly consist of following the narrative. They offer an excuse for such things as shooting down gangs, hunting, and various other pastimes. Interestingly enough, one such pastime is the ability to play real blackjack. The only problem you’ll have is that in RDR2, finding the actual blackjack locations themselves can be difficult.

So we thought of Blackjackchamp.com, we would do everyone a favor and make a concise guide to all the RDR2 blackjack locations.

Red Dead Redemption 2 – The Blackjack Locations

The game offers a total of four locations where you can play blackjack. It’s important to keep in mind that each game requires a buy-in payment before you can sit down at the table and start playing. The amounts of these buy-ins will vary depending on the location and also it may even depend on the time of day in which you choose to play.

The Town Of Rhodes

The first location on our list is the town of Rhodes. Here you can play blackjack to your heart’s content by making your way to the saloon. This is found in the most southern part of the town. Head through the swing doors and make your way upstairs. There you’ll instantly spot three guys who will hustle you to play blackjack with them. The buy-in in Rhode’s saloon location is $4.

Blackwater

We should start by saying that you can only play blackjack in Blackwater when you’ve progressed through the main story of RDR2. Once you’ve completed this, you should head over to the saloon in the center of the town, which is situated on Main Street. If you have a look at the map, its location is marked. To play in Blackwater, you’ll need to present a buy-in of $5.

Van Horn Trading Post

The Van Horn Trading Post is a blackjack location that’s situated right in the center of the town. And as with all the others, it’s inside a saloon.

Being RDR2 blackjack, we suggest you barge your way and start to fight, cowboy style! The actual buy-in, along with the availability of the game, will vary depending on the time.

The Outlaw’s Main Camp

If you head over to the gang’s main camp, you can play blackjack there as well. Take a look at the map and you’ll see the gang hideout locations of RDR2. The thing about this is that the games are not a permanent fixture. They randomly pop up. That’s why it’s important to keep one eye open for them. If your style of blackjack is heavy-handed and heated, then playing with other gang members here is going to be your cup of tea. It is playing cards cowboy-style. The buy-in will vary depending on the time today.

Game Objectives

In its simplest form, blackjack is a card comparing game. The player will compete against the dealer in the hope of getting the best hand. It’s important to note that you’re not playing against other players.

As with all varieties of blackjack, the goal is for the player to have their cards add up to either 21 or as close as possible. If the total goes over 21, then the game is over. Or as they say in blackjack terms, the player is a “bust.”

RDR2 Blackjack Moves

Every game of blackjack will begin with the dealer dealing the player with two cards. The player then faces four possible options: to hit, stand, double down, or split. Let’s go through this one by one:

  • Hit- By choosing hit, you receive another card
  • Stand- This will end your turn without you taking a card
  • A Double Down- If you happen to have two cards in your hand then you can make this move. It allows you to double the value of your bet. And by doing so get an additional card. It’s important to note that you must have sufficient chips to double the bet.
  • Split- If you happen to receive two cards of the same value then you can separate them into two hands and play them independently. Essentially you’re playing two hands simultaneously. They will have an equal value to your initial bet.

Now keep in mind that you will lose if you go over 21. You’ll also lose if the dealer has a higher total hand than you have. If you’re playing a split hand that has an Ace in the hand, then it doesn’t count as a blackjack. In RDR2 blackjack, you’re able to double down on split hands.

RDR2 Blackjack Card Values

What makes blackjack so interesting is that an Ace can count as either 1 point or 11 points. It all depends on which number is going to get you closer to 21, but without going over. So you can be playing a game where these values are constantly switching between these two numbers. The suited cards the King, Queen, and Jack, will all count towards ten points. And the regular cards between 2 – 10 will all have the same values as the numbers written on them. These are the card’s “face values.”

Now if the player is lucky enough to have an opening hand that consists of an Ace and a 10 value card, then they get a blackjack and win automatically. There is an exception to this rule though. And that’s if the dealer also happens to get a blackjack. In a situation like this, the round is known as a “push” and nobody wins. A Great Gaming Diversion

We love the version of blackjack within Red Dead Redemption 2. Providing you can find the four locations on the map, then RDR2 blackjack makes a great break from the main game. Of course, the enjoyment of such a game is purely subjective. Take note that though the game is billed as available in the German language, it’s actually in English with German subtitles. This does take some of the enjoyment away if you’re a German player. Also, we’re well aware of the frustration for blackjack players who are looking for the game locations.

Nevertheless, once you find them on the map, then we suggest that you try out various game plays. Maybe make use of some of your knowledge of perfect blackjack strategies to become a champion of blackjack in Red Dead Redemption 2. Who knows, you could then take these skills to a real online casino like 22Bet Casino. And end up winning big!
